Notes: Incorporated Nov. 1894 as Congregation Adath Jeshorim. Previously: 113 E 86, to 1926, when built present synagogue of Byzantine architecture. "Originally known as Gates of Hope, until their consolidation in 1894 with Congregation Agudath Jeshorim. Became known thereafter as the 86th Street Temple. In 1920 the Congregation Bikur Cholim of Lexington Avenue and 72ns Street merged with them. In 1923 obtained a new charter under the name Park Avenue Synagogue, In 1929 the Congregation Atereth Israel of 323 East 82nd Street merged with them.
