Notes: According to the 1939 WPA Survey, the First Snitiner Congregation or Sniatyner Kranken Unterstutzungs Verein was organized in 1897 and in 1939 worshiped at 108 1st Street with the Massas Benjamin Anshe Podhajce Sick Benefit Society. In 1901, the Sniatyner Congregation Agudath (Agudas) Achim, also known as the Sniatyn Fraternal Association, broke off from the First Snitiner Congregation. It was located at 57 St. Mark’s Place from 1931 to 1935 and, while it no longer met for worship, it held regular meetings at 12 St. Mark’s Place from 1935 to 1939. Late in 1918, however, some of its members also broke away to form a new congregation known as the Erste Sniatyner Congregation Ahavath Shalom or the Erste Sniatyner Congregation Ahawat Schulem or in English the First Sniatyner Congregation, Love of Peace. From May 1934 to 1939, this congregation rented the basement of Congregation Czenstochauer Chasam Sopher W’Anshei Unterstanestier at 8-10 Clinton Street.
