Notes: According to the 1939 WPA Survey it was previously at 140 East 2nd Street (1923-28) and was subsequently at 630 E 5th (1933-38) and 193 East 2nd Street. There was a congregation organized in 1911 as the Smotrecher Benevolent Association. In 1913 another congregation of older Jews from Smotrech organized the Smotrecher Chevra Cadishe. About 1934 these two congregations merged.
