The congregation was organized upon the arrival of Rabbi Brandwine from Palestine in 1925, when some Chasidim from the towns of Turke and Stretin, Galicia (now Poland) requested him to be the leader of a congregation. From 1925-1931, it was located at 55 Lewis Street.
