Notes: Subsequently known as Bene Chaim Abraham Anshe Shmargon, located at 34 Market Street (according to the 1907/1908 American Jewish Year Book), and as Anshei Smorgin B'nai Chaim Abraham, located at 37 Market Street (according to the Jewish Communal Register 1917/1918). According to the 1939 WPA Survey: "Disbanded about 10 years ago for lack of membership. For a long time they would pay 3 Jews in neighborhood 25¢ per to complete the "Ten" necessary for services but when they struck for an increase in wages up to 50¢ per the society decided to disband completely. The Torahs were sent to friends in Europe."
