Notes: According to the 1939 WPA Survey, this congregation was organized in 1909 by East Side Jews who came originally from the city of Roman in Romania. It was originally located on Stanton Street between Allen and Orchard Streets from 1909 to 1917 and also worshiped with another congregation from 1912 to 1927 at 70 Allen Street between Grand and Broome Streets in a building that was eventually demolished for subway construction. It then moved to 100 East 4th Street.
