In the 1907/1908 American Jewish Year Book, it was known as Bene Yitzchok Anshe Lechowitz, was said to have been organized in 1892, and was located at 93 Hester Street. In the Jewish Communal Register (1917/1918), it was known as Congregation B'nai Isaac Anshei Lechowitz, and the society information is from that source. According to the 1939 WPA Survey, it was then known as Congregation Bnei Isaac Anshei Lechowitz or in English, Sons of Isaac, People of Lechowitz,, was located at 217 Henry Street, but had been organized in 1889 by people from Lechowitz, Russia, had rented quarters at 3 Bayard Street from 1889 to 1892, and was located at 105 Hester Street from 1892 to 1898 (obviously incorrect end date, since it was still at 105 Hester in the 1900/1901 American Jewish Year Book) and at 93 Hester Street from 1889 to 1931, when it rented quarters of the first floor of a four-story brick building at 217 Henry Street dedicated in 1929.
