Notes: According to the 1939 WPA Survey it was previously at 140 East 2nd Street and 157 E 4th Street (1928-33), and was subsequently at 193 East 2nd Street. There was a congregation organized in 1911 as the Smotrecher Benevolent Association. In 1913 another congregation of older Jews from Smotrech organized the Smotrecher Chevra Cadishe. About 1934 these two congregations merged.
