Notes: According to the Jewish Communal Register (1917/1918), the First United Podhaycer Congregation was then an orthodox congregation located at 126 Rivington Street that had been organized in 1903 with a membership of 54, a seating capacity of 60, an insurance society, and that was associated with a cemetery. According to the 1939 WPA Survey, the First United Podhayzer Congregation Sick and Benevolent Verein, Inc., also known as the First United Podhayzer, was then located in a three-story tan brick building at 108 East 1st Street and had been organized in 1903. It had previously been located on Stanton Street at the corner of Suffolk Street in 1903, at 80 Clinton Street from 1903 to 1904, at 21 Suffolk Street from 1904 to 1907, at 145 Suffolk Street from 1907 to 1910, at 120 Rivington Street from 1910 to 1915, at 190 Delancey Street from 1915 to 1918, at 159 Attorney Street from 1918 to 1925, and at 87 Rivington Street from 1925 to 1934. It currently worshiped in the synagogue of Congregation Massas Benjamin, contributing to some charities, etc., in lieu of rent. It was associated with Mount Zion and Beth Israel Cemeteries. It had been organized by 10 members of Congregation Masses Benjamin who broke away in 1903, but met secretly for a time as they did not want to be discovered and lose the burial privileges of the mother organization.
